Comment on Foreword – Maina Kiai, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association by Asha Ramzan https://civiccharter.org/foreword/#comment-5 Wed, 16 Nov 2016 23:48:07 +0000 http://civiccharter.org/?p=118#comment-5 This charter enshrines the values I hold dear & know are fundamental to an inclusive and fair society for all, not just the privileged and it gives me a shared language with those who also hold these values sacred and work towards making this world a fairer & more just place for all.

And this is particularly relevant in these challenging times when political leaders are inciting hate and exclusion to win power & are further marginalising those in our communities who are on the margins of power & privilege, both within nation states and against other nation states & societies.

This charter is the perfect antidote to Brexit & Trumpeting, I will be spreading this far & wide in my personal & professional networks and will use it as a living tool for social change to benefit the common good, I urge others to do this too.

Comment on Foreword – Maina Kiai, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association by Anita Lewis https://civiccharter.org/foreword/#comment-4 Thu, 03 Nov 2016 13:24:02 +0000 http://civiccharter.org/?p=118#comment-4 When we hear the Orwellian language, such as “Make America Great Again,” we would do well to think instead of making America Strong by making Americans stronger in their ability to help and empower each other for the greater good of everyone. When we all take responsibility to care for ourselves and others, basic freedoms are expanded for everyone on Earth. The Sustainable Development Goals are a good start, but we would do well to look closely at how poverty is created and perpetuated around the globe. Until we loosen the grip on all of us maintained by The Web Of Debt (Ellen Hodgson Brown) and move toward a more Resource Based Economy (Jacques Fresco) nothing will change and life will become even more brutal and short for more and more of our precious fellow humans.
Caring Citizens Are The Solution.
